Community Affiliations

Community Affiliations: We believe storytelling is a community act. Beyond our creative work, we’re actively involved with organizations rooted in place, purpose, and participation. These affiliations aren’t just badges—they’re ongoing relationships that let us roll up our sleeves, share what we know, and learn as we go.

Whether building something from scratch or contributing our voice at the boardroom table, they reflect our commitment to creative citizenship—and to making meaningful things happen where we live, work, and imagine.

From cultural foundations to grassroots initiatives, we support efforts that align with our mission: to entertain, educate, and inspire through storytelling.

Scottish Studies Foundation: Jamie is honoured to serve on the board of the Scottish Studies Foundation, a charitable organization advancing the study of Scottish history and culture—especially its many Canadian dimensions. From funding academic research to supporting the Centre for Scottish Studies at the University of Guelph, the Foundation plays a vital role in preserving and exploring how Scottish identity has shaped Canada’s story. Through initiatives like public lectures, archival projects, and the annual Scot of the Year event, the Foundation keeps cultural memory alive and relevant. If you’re curious about this work, we invite you to read past issues of the newsletter, become a member, or connect with us directly. There are many ways to support, sponsor, or simply stay connected to the story.

Awesome Amherstburg: Founded by Jamie, Frank, and a small crew of local champions, Awesome Amherstburg is part of the global Awesome Foundation. While its home base is Amherstburg, the chapter gives $1,000 microgrants to projects happening anywhere across Windsor-Essex County.

The idea is simple: support bold, creative, or meaningful ideas that make people say, “That’s awesome.” That might mean something serious—like an educational tool for newcomers—or something delightfully nutty—like a puppet-led walking tour of Sandwich Town. We don’t just fund projects; we fuel momentum.

Or reach out directly to Jamie Lees, Frank D’Angelo, or Kristy LeBlanc from our steering committee—we’d love to hear what you’re working on.
